This prototype was developed in 2010 to compare the market cap of each industry in the S&P 500 against itself and others. A general knowledge of recent and longer term industry growth can be gleaned from this tool.

It displays (well, if you slide the slider anyway):
 • Total market cap of the entire S&P 500 for the currently selected date (top right).
 • Each industries 1 year ago market cap (black circles); Each industries current market cap (red [when greater] or white [when less] outlined circles)
 • Percentage change in each industry over the past week (at right on y axis).

As it is a prototype there are some things to be desired. The most glaring being a legend and labels for what industry is what. And then of course some time spent on design and functionality. Unfortunately due to organizational changes I was never able to take this further than you see it here. Bummer.
